Saltwater Pool Maintenance Cheat Sheet

What are the special requirements for saltwater pools?  This is one of the most frequently asked questions our water lab technicians get.  Our saltwater pool maintenance cheat sheet below answers just that!  When you partner with a pool professional, your saltwater pool maintenance becomes easy and hassle free.

Saltwater Pool Maintenance Cheat Sheet

Daily:

1.) Test for chlorine and pH.

2.) Check the skimmer and pump basket and clean out if necessary.

3.) Clean the pool as required.

4.) Check the water level and adjust as required.

5.) Swim…swim…swim

Weekly:

1.) Test the pool water for chlorine and pH and adjust as required. If your testing shows that the water chemistry is out of balance or if there is other problems, bring in water sample (1 litre) into Aqua-Tech for analysis.

2.) Check the sump pit and ensure that it is operating properly.

3.) Perform your weekly maintenance…Adjust your salt chlorinator (whatever percentage it takes to keep your chlorine testing 1-3 ppm into the skimmer, Amaze pouches into the pool (1 per 40,000 ltrs of water), 3 caps Ultra Cleanse into your skimmer

4.) Vacuum the pool and clean your filter (backwash sand or rinse cartridges) if your pressure is 8-10 lbs higher than the start of the season.

First Sunday of every month:

1.) Remove the sump pump from the pit and clean any debris off the bottom. Test it for operation and put it back into the pit.

2.) Remove your System 3 filters (if you use them) from the tank. Rinse off any large debris and let them air-dry.

3.) Bring in a water sample to Aqua-Tech for maintenance analysis (Monday), even if the chemistry looks good.

4.) Check your salt cell to see if it needs chemical cleaning.

After a heavy rain or a party:

1.) Broadcast the weekly amount of Amaze around the edges of the deep end to

“gas-off” any organic wastes and press BOOST on your chlorinator.

2.) Test the pool water for chlorine and pH and adjust as required. If your testing shows that the water chemistry is out of balance or if there is other problems, bring in water sample (1 litre) into Aqua-Tech for analysis.

3.) Check the sump pit and ensure that it is operating properly.

Yearly:

1.) Chemically clean your sand or cartridge filter

2.) Chemically clean your salt cell.
