Its that time of year when you might start to see green. Are you using Banish in your weekly maintenance? We get busy over the summer and sometimes we aren’t always able to maintain our pools the way we like and we start to see green! What does this mean!? It means that we can see algae when it reaches 30 000 ppm per ounce and we need to destroy them!
Step 1. Vacuum, brush and remove as much debris from the pool as possible.
Step 2. Clean your filters!
Sand Filter: Backwash DAILY (backwash 2 mines, rinse 30 sec). If you haven’t chemically cleaned your filter in the last 3 months, we recommend that you do that with Filter Cleanse today.
Cartridge Filter: Remove the filter elements and rinse them both thoroughly (takes 60 – 90 mins). If you haven’t chemically ceaned your filters in the last 3 months, we recommend you do that with filter cleanse today.
YOU MUST CHEMICALLY CLEAN YOUR FILTERS ONCE THE ALGAE IS GONE, OR ELSE YOU RUN A HIGH RISK FOR IT COMING BACK
Step 3. Add Dazzle Ultra Shock (900g / 80,000L). Slowly pour Ultra Shock into your skimmer. This should take 15 minutes. Wait another 15 minutes before moving to step 4.
Step 4. Add Dazzle Algae Clear 60 (500mL / 80,000L) Pour Algae Clear 60 around the edges of the pool.
Step 5. Add Dazzle Clear Rebound (2L / 80,000?) The next morning pour Clear Rebound around the edges of the pool. This product will digest the dead algae, removing it from the pool. This may take between 2 – 4 days.
Step 6. Retest & Clarify. After 2 – 4 days, bring in another water sample to Aqua-Tech. During this time you will notice your pool turn from green to milky blue, pool will foam, bubble, and have a milky appearance that will gradually fade. This is EXPECTED!
YOU MUST CHEMICALLY CLEAN YOUR FILTERS ONCE THE ALGAE IS GONE, OR ELSE YOU RUN A HIGH RISK FOR IT COMING BACK
Tips:
-Always keep your chlorine at 2ppm or higher
-Keep pool circulating on ‘filter’ setting for 24 hours per day during all these procedures
-If the problem persists clean the filter again with Filter Cleanse
-Repeat algae could be a sign of a bigger problem, perhaps with circulation or filtration of your pool
