Top 3 Tips for Draining & Refilling Your Soft Soak Trio Hot Tub

Is it time to drain and refill your hot tub? Read below to learn just how easy it is to use the Soft Soak Trio System!

After three months when it is time to drain and refill your hot tub, open up your Soft Soak Trio Kit and grab the purple Trio #3 Finish / Restoring Spa Cleanser pouch; it should be the only one left in the box.

How to use it:
  1. Apply the entire bag directly to the spa water with pump on.
  2. Circulate water for 15 – 20 minutes.
  3. Shut off pump and completely drain water.
  4. Refill the spa and repeat the Soft Soak Trio cycle.

Why use the Trio #3 Finish Pouch?

The Trio #3 Pouch cleans and prepares the spa for a fresh start. Trio Restoring Spa Cleanser breaks down built-up grime, lotion, body oil, make-up, hair-care products, dirt and debris in pipes and on surfaces. Cleaning is essential for peak equipment performance and the highest quality water condition.

Tip #1: Before you refill the tub – is it time to chemically clean your hot tub filter? We recommend rinsing the filter with your hose every 1-2 weeks, and chemically cleaning it with a SpaGuard Filter Brite solution every 6-8 weeks. Never use a pressure washer or take your filter to a car wash; it can damage the pleats and shorten the lifespan of your filter!

Tip #2: In climates where it is impossible to drain and refill at the three-month mark in the winter, hang on to your Trio #3 – Finish pouch and begin a new kit instead by adding the Trio #1 Start pouch; the weekly #2 pouches will not work without it after 3 months! Hang on to that extra Trio #3 – Finish pouch until you drain after 6 months in the spring and add both draining pouches at once!

Great! You have successfully drained and refiled your hot tub! What’s next?

Once you have filled the tub with water and it is up to temperature, add your sanitizer (chlorine or bromine), Trio #1 Start pouch, and your first Trio #2 Weekly pouch and let things circulate with the cover open, pump running, and the jets off for at least 30 minutes.

Soaking can begin 15 minutes after application.

It is normal to see some bubbles or foam on the surface of the water at this time; what you’re seeing is just the chemicals reacting in the water.

Tip #3: After the tub has circulated for 24 – 48 hours, bring in a water sample to Aqua-Tech’s water analysis lab and we will help you get the water balanced and ready for soaking! Bringing check up samples every month will allow you to stay on top of the water balance and prevent issues from arising.

Always check your sanitizer (chlorine or bromine) level with a BioGuard 5-Way Test Strip before entering the spa.
