How To Clean Your Hot Tub Filter

Cleaning your filter is a very important part of hot tub water care. If you use a dirty or worn out filter, you run the risk of getting contaminants in your water as well as having to add extra chemicals to correct your water chemistry. Use the correct product and process the first time to avoid complications with your hot tub water care system… you’ll thank us later!

Use the correct product to ensure GREAT hot tub water care

Two words: FILTER BRITE. Filter Brite removes oils and grease from all types of filters. It acts as a shampoo for the filter promoting greater filter efficiency, keeping your water clear, reducing future maintenance, and lengthening the life of the filter media. Purchase a bag of Filter Brite from Aqua-Tech online here… a MUST HAVE for great hot tub water care!

Filter cleaning process

Step 1: Fill a pail (bigger than your filter) with some SERIOUSLY hot water (as hot as you can get it but be careful not to burn yourself).

Step 2: Mix in the bag of Filter Brite and soak your filter in it overnight.

Step 3: Once your filter has soaked and all of the oils/greases have lifted, rinse the filter to get rid of the film as well as any excess product.

Important note: To maximize the results of your cleaning efforts, let your filter completely dry before putting it back in your spa. Drying it out tightens the fibres back up, letting your filter catch those tiny little particles that might even be invisible to the human eye.
