Sundance Maxxus 880 Stereo issue

I have a 2006 Sundance maxxus 880, My stereo quit working. I tested all fuses to include ones behind stereo. I have no power coming to the stereo fuses. I see the wires run down to a black box behind the main electrical panel which looks very tough to get to. I was wondering if that’s were I need to get to or if there is something in the main electric box I need to look at? I also have pushed the reset button on the deck still no good. Thank you

  1. What is the date built and serial number of your Sundance Maxxus spa? There were a few different series models of stereo’s on the Maxxus model. This data will help me lead you in the right direction.

2006 Not sure of serial, I do know it’s NOT the JBL stereo. It is a CD player, just has a red and black wire running to a black box behind main electric panel. red wire has a fuse and the yellow memory wire has a fuse which is jumped from the red wire at harness connection. the red power wire has no power to the fuse.

  3. The smaller box is the power supply. The larger black box is the sub woofer. Test across your main TB1 terminal block for 230 vac. If 230 vac is present turn off power to the spa and remove the fuse from the red and yellow wires and test for continuity. If the fuses are good replace them in their jackets and and leave power off to the spa. Disconnect the spade connectors between the power supply and the spa wiring harness. Turn power to the spa back on. Set your multimeter for 20 VDC. Test across the spade connectors for the power supply for 12-15 VDC. If voltage is good then the stereo deck is bad. If voltage is bad then the power supply is bad. If all else fails contact our Service Support Desk to book a diagnostic and repair of your Sundance Spa.

Ok thank you, I am in ohio so can’t schedule you out..lol. I have checked for voltage at spade terminals I have none, I did not test with spa power off, I did check continuity of fuses in yellow memory and red hot of the radio they are good, move down stream to spade connectors where power supply connects to stereo harness, no power. thats where I left off. I will check for 230 at TB1 and see what I have.

    Thank you

  5. What was the resolution here?

I have the same problem with a 2006 Maxxus that came with our house purchase last year.

The stereo died recently. I checked the red/yellow fuses and they are good. I have no 12V on the spade connector from the power supply. The rest of the tub functions fine.

I do not see easy access to the power supply? Is there one? My sentry box has a black plastic sheet all around it, sealing the back area off. I think I would need to swing the sentry box out of the way to get to the stereo power supply. Moving the sentry box looks like I need to disconnect plumbing and other wires. That seems like a risk to me.

Assuming I can get at the power supply, is it replaceable or is there a fuse inside it?

    Many thanks, Ed in Oregon.

  6. Ed not having 12 VDC coming from the power supply indicates a bad power supply. You should be able to access the power supply either from the left or right side of the equipment bay if you remove enough skirt screws to peel the skirting back. Depending on the year the spa was built it may be on the right or left. It could also be mounted to the back of the board in the center. If its a 2006 Maxxus its probably mounted to the floor either on the right or the left. A new power supply should be available from your local Sundance Spas parts depot. Happy holidays

Good day. I have a sundance maxxus 880. My stereo system is not working due any people remove all parts and tese are not replaced. I note there are electrical connections to the subwofer 6660-499 JBL, and another equiment that i think is a power supply.
I contacted supplier JBL subwoffer and i get one, but i dont know de characteristic of power supply.
Would you please help me with the power supply reference or photo of connections to the stereo system. I note the JBL MARINE model No. JBL SUNI and the wires red-lack-blue-green dont have any connections.

    1. Edgar if the power supply is original or you obtained it from an authorized Sundance Spas Service Depot there should be several wires coming off of it. One side should have 2 wires a black and red wire with spade connectors. These mate with two wires coming from the deck. They cannot be hooked up incorrectly as they have matching connectors.
The other side should have 3 wires a line a neutral and a ground wire. The Ground wire hooks up to the ground terminal bar inside the Sentry Control box. The Neutral wire hooks up to the neutral spot on TB1. The Line wire hooks up to the Line or Hot spot on TB1. TB1 is in the Sentry Control box.

  8. this is Edgar again. Thanks for your cooperation. i Check again the equipment and I find the power supply on the rear panel. The connections are good and it povides 12VDC to the stereo system.
there is a connector with four wires from the stereo system without connection, these wires green, blue, black and white have the 5 VDC( blue and red) with radioOn or radio OFF. Would you please advise me where this connector goes to ;?
My maxxus 880 was adquired new version on 2013 directly in Florida

    1. Edgar if you have 12VDC going to the deck and it won’t turn on you could have a bad deck. The other connection is for a future aux and not used for regular operation of the stereo deck.

  9. thanks. I received your message and i confirm you that i have 12vdc to the deck, it turns On and all the controls running well but a high noise on the subwoofer is present ( HUM noise)with a broadcasting or songs from deck a minimun level.

  10. Sundance spa 880 BLUEWAVE stereo is not working. Won’t power on and remote works perfectly. Built in 2013 and serial number is OXO3LCD1004505730213. What do you suggest?

    1. OK check the main fuse behind the deck. Also check your wired connections from the power supply to the PWA and the power supply to the deck for breaks. If all this checks out check for 12-15 DCV coming from your power supply. If you don’t have 12-15 you could have a bad power supply if you have 240VAC going to the power supply. If you do have 12-15 DCV you could have a bad deck.

  11. I bought a new wireless remote for my 2005 Maxxus, how do I pair the new one with my stereo? I can’t find any instructions anywhere. It is the old style(original remote) with audio and spa control.

    1. Hi Steve. The older decks didn’t require pairing to the remotes. Provided you have a compatible remote should be just plug n play.

  12. Hello
I have a 2005 Sundance Optima . Stereo stopped working , traced back to power supply ( no dc from Red / blk ). Location is behind senrty unit. Can I swing that panel out. Seems very tight to get to? ThanksJo

    1. Hi Joe. The Sentry Control Box does not come off easy. You don’t want to mess with it if you don’t have to. Once you loosen the screws to remove the power supply for the stereo I would just locate it somewhere else like near the pump behind the deck. Let me know if you would like a purchase link for the power supply. They are in stock and would ship to your door.

  13. Good morning!
2012 Maxuus owner. no stereo power across red and black. fuses ohmed out fine. suspect a bad power supply. what the heck is the new power supply number?? I have a SUB as well. my first round of checking for a number came up with a 6600-005. but then I found at another spa parts store, it was updated to a 6600-146?
    Let me know.
