Jet 2 not working

Just replaced control panel on my hot tub. Jet one working but jet 2 which controls the other side of tub and falls there’s nothing. The display says it’s on. Everything is open, pushed water with a hose to check for air and still nothing. The control is an mx770. It’s an elite spa made by max spas

  1. Hi Christina. Do you hear the jet 2 pump motor running when you press the button. If you do you could have an air lock or an issue with the pump housing and or impellor. If you don’t hear the motor running for jet 2 go ahead and check for proper voltage on the board at your jet 2 set points. If you have proper voltage and the icon is on but the motor is not running you could have a bad connection from the board to the pump and or a bad pump. If you don’t have proper voltage at the set points you could have a bad board.

  2. I believe both jet one and 2 run off the same motor pump. Jet one works fine and when jet 2 is pressed the icon says it’s on but there’s no change but I can hear a click near all the wires. My boyfriend said when he 1st started it up woth the new control panel the waterfalls were working which means jet 2 was working for a short time.

I have a Vita Envie Spa with Balboa spa controls. Purchased used and ran perfectly, when wired into new location (240vac) neutral and hot were flipped at breaker and 300ma fuse blew. Replaced fuse but still got no response from topside panel. Had a repair man come out and replace the control board, everything lit up and functions except for pump 2 will not respond to its buttton. Repair guy says it is the topside panel button but i have a hard time believing that reversing the wires caused a button to stop working. The second pump is 2 speed and runs off an external board that we did try to replace also with no luck. My question is, should the second pump run during a filter cycle like the first pump does at low speed? Or is this board not correct for my configuration? I run 2-2 hour filter cycles a day and the second pump never comes on. Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

    1. Hi Michael. The second pump typically does not run during a filter cycle with a Balboa control box.
It does sound like either you have a topside control panel issue or a main circuit board issue. The topside control may not be bad but it could be incompatible with the new circuit board that was installed. It’s very important to match the Description number, Serial number and Chip number of the circuit board when replacing a Balboa circuit board. There are many Balboa replacement boards available and many boards look alike. Many are universal and many are proprietary. Check the obvious things first ie all your connections are good from the second pump to the circuit board and it is plugged into the correct area on the circuit board. If this all checks out you will need to do some homework to make sure the board replacement matches the topside. The difference in price between a new circuit board and a new control box with a heater/topside control bundle is sometimes not to far off depending on where you purchase it from. Sometimes it makes sense to replace the control box and the topside at the same time depending on how old the spa is. If you require help matching a new control box and topside to your spa let me know and I can work through that with you.
