Raypay 156a heater hi limit 2 fault

I am getting a high limit 2 fault code on my heater. The water flow is good and the hi limits are fine. What else could it be? the tech said maybe the pc board. But the unit turns on fine.

  1. Hi Graig. The high limit 2 fault code means the hi limit 2 switch is open. This typically means a bad or dirty connection at the switch or the wiring from the switch back to the board and or a bad switch. It could also mean a flow issue if the heat exchanger is calcified. It could also mean your heat exchanger is sooted and the heat is not being transferred to the pool water efficiently and more heat is going to the flue tripping the switch. Check your switch connections and wires first. If that checks out have a look through the heat exchanger tubes for calcium deposit and scaling and also on the outside of the fins for sooting. In rare cases a PC board could cause that fault code.

    1. Could be a mulfunctioning hi limit and or bad connection to the hi limit or something could have caused the temperature of the water to exceed the hi-limit switches threshold.

My Raypak HWH ignites and runs for about 15 minutes then It shut off and I see “high level limit 2 switch is open”. The heater is brand new. Flow is good. No soot and /or calcium build up. What could be causing this??? Thanks
