My pool pump cuts out after a few seconds and trips the breaker. What causes this and how to i fix it?

Lionel if you are starting your pump up for the first time this season and it just hums and then trips the breaker you could be dealing with a stiff motor shaft from sitting all winter. You can try removing the back access cover of the motor to rotate the shaft a bit and then try and start the pump again if it was stiff. If the shaft is already freewheeling then you might have a bad motor capacitor behind this same motor access cover. You could try and change that out. If the motor still won’t start you likely have a bad pump motor. If all else fails contact our Service Support Desk to book a diagnostic and repair of your pool.
