Leaking Pool?
If you are not sure that your pool leaks and it is only a hunch or an “I think it does” and don’t want to book a complete diagnostic service right now we can give you some homework to try and help you with some of you own CSI work.
- Accurately mark the water level of your pool with a ball point pen or pencil on your skimmer faceplate and put your solar cover on your pool.
Using a 24 hour waiting period, measure (with a measuring tape) if the water level has dropped from your original marking.
There has been _____________ inches of water loss.
- Raise the water level back to your mark. Turn off your pool pump so that the water is no longer circulating. Using a 24 hour waiting period, measure (with a measuring tape) if the water level has dropped from your original marking.
There has been _____________ inches of water loss.
Note: If the water level has moves ¼” or less in a 24hr period it is likely that pool is not leaking and just experiencing normal pool water loss.
If in the same 24hr period the pool level has moved between ¼” and ½” against your original marking there is in our experience a 50% chance that your pool is experiencing an active water leak.
If in the same 24hr period the pool level moves more than ½” in a 24hr
period there is a 90% likelihood that your pool has an active leak and leak location is recommended.
