Hot tub circulation pump keeps shutting off

2004 Sweetwater Bahia model: Heater wiring on circuit board burnt. Drained spa. Received updated / replacement part numbers from Sundance. Replaced circuit board and heater unit. Refilled spa. FL2 on panel kept coming on and shutting off circ pump / heater. Called Sundance, told to replace flow switch. Replaced flow switch. Everything works fine for 2 – 3 days. Have temp set at 102, F1 or F4 skimming / heater mode. Now circ pump turns off between 12 hour cycles. No error messages displayed on panel. If I change modes circ pump will not come back on. If I turn off / turn on spa at wall junction box, circ pump starts working again. Then some time before next cycle it turns off again. No error messages. Please help. Thanks

  1. Hi George. What is the part number of the new board and eprom revision of the eprom chip on the new board?

  2. we just had a pump replaced and a relay switch on our 2005 Calspa. model 05-5XCA-60 serial 05S09919 . After the repair we noticed one of the jets was lying on the bottom of the tub. The tub was running twice a day no problems until tonite, after the relay switch was put in. The jets went on and then pop.. everthing shut down. Nothing works and its not the breaker switch Any ideas of what this could be?

  3. Hi Nigel,
Thank you for your response. I emptied the hot tub to clean it and refill You were right about the blown fuse.
However, after replacing the fuse, everything worked until I turned the jets on and the same fuse blew again. I replaced it again but have not turned the jets on yet. Why would the same fuse blow again? Any suggestions?
FYI we recently had one of the pumps replaced. would this have caused the fuse to blow?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Tony. Yeah it sounds like that pump that is tied to the jet pump button you are pressing could be locked up. See if you can turn the shaft manually. If the shaft is freewheeling then check your wiring to the pump and to the board to make sure it is wired correct and there are no breaks. If the shaft is not freewheeling and it’s binding then you will have to loosen it or figure out why it is binding ie if it is plugged or there is an issue in the wet end at the impellor.

  4. 2003 Sweetwater Bahia hot tub. Everything was working fine until electric company changed out house meter, tub showing FL1 code. Replaced flow sensor[deposits on switch] and now circ.pump cycles on and off. can hear the relay clicking with it. I hope I don’t need a new comp. board. any ideas? Got hit with 20inches of snow, not a good time for this to go down.

    1. Hi Donald. Sounds a dirty filter, low water level in the spa, sticking weir gate assembly and or a plugged circ pump or circ pump line. Easy enough to check if it’s the filter. Simply remove the filter briefly ie 15min and see if the FL1 code clears. Make sure the weir gate moves up and down freely. Water should be touching the bottom of the head cushions on a level spa.

  5. Topped off the water, removed the filter, and replaced flow sensor. Circ. pump keeps cycling on and off. Can hear relay switching.

    1. Try disconnecting your top side control panel and then power cycling the spa. If the circ pump comes on and it doesn’t cycle like you have said here then you could have a bad topside or bad connection at the topside.
If the circ pump continues to cycle you could possibly have a bad circuit board and or bad circ pump Donald. Let me know if you need either. They are both in stock.

Had a Balboa circuit board BP 501 replaced it with a BP 501/601 matched everything up with the old board was everything works except pump 1 light stays on the Tropic Seas Spa controller, the circulating pump is running but when pump 1 button is pushed the circulating pump turns off and pump 1 turns on. Any idea.

  7. 07 sundance optima hot tub, circulation pump, temp sensor, high limit sensor, and flow switch have all been replaced, circulation pump shuts off and get overheating code, what could cause this?

  8. I replaced my pump I replaced my heater and then my circulating pump that used to run all the time now is shutting off after like 15 minutes 50 seconds or whatever and then turning back on after in time and then back on and back off let’s not working is my problem initially

  9. I have a master spa twilight 8.2 and lately after using the spa, I get out and the circulation pump shuts off. There is a slight hum to it so its immediately noticable when it shuts off. Tonight, I came inside for a few minutes and went back out to see if I could get the circulation running and it had come back on all by itself. What would cause the circulation pump to keep shutting off after using the hit tub?

    1. Sounds like something to do with your circ pump settings and or the heater reaching it’s set temp when you leave the spa Theresa unless the pump is overheating and shutting off on it’s own.
