Heater Assembly sensor?

I purchased a heater assembly (Part # 893030058). My old one has a grey wire (sensor?) in it that the new one does not. What do i have to do to install the new one? thanks for your help!

    Mark, that’s your hi limit sensor. You should be able to dig out the little bit of silicone that holds it in place so that you can insert it into your new heater. Depending on how long it has been in there the wire may break off and you may have to replace it. Depending on how old your heater is the old sensor may not fit in the newer heater and you may need to get a new sensor.
