FLO flashing message

I have a 2002 Sundance Cameo in which the FLO message is appearing but only when I turn the pump on. One pump is out and has been ordered. Could this be the cause of this message or should I keep trying to figure this out before the new pump gets here and I unstall it?

  1. Hi Michael. When you say the pump is out do you mean it is not working anymore but still connected to the spa plumbing? Also which pump are we talking about. Jet 1, Jet 2 or the circ pump?

  2. Yes they (pump 1 and 2) are still connected but not working. That is the single speed pump will work but the 2 speed will not. I did however order both pumps as they are both original and I am sure at the end of their lifespan.

    1. Michael if the FLO message only appears when you turn the 1 speed pump on check for flow through the small circulation jet with just your small circ pump running with a call for heat. Check that the heat icon cones on. This is the small pump under the heater.

  3. Wow.. This is crazy. I went out and completely drained and took off the covers on the water inputs in the footwell and checked and cleaned them. I then refilled and now I have nothing! The control panel still shows power but the jet pumps will not work at all now. I am purplexed!

    1. Odd to say the least. Try disconnecting the smaller remote topside panel on the far side of the spa from the sensor loom near the Sentry control box. Sometimes if these remote panels are bad they interfer with operation of the main topside.

  4. Ok.. thank you so much for your help so far. Here is what I have now.
Jets buttons on main control panel will not turn on. Air, Lights etc all work though. If I go to the secondary control panel on the other side, the 2 speed pump will work but still nothing on the single speed.

I looked on the circuit board and all I can see is the one input for the control panel on the top of the circuit board. Are both control panels connected via this one input? IF so and it is determined that a control panel may be faulty, how do I replace only the one panel if it comes down to that?

AS I said, I have already ordered the two jet pumps and they will be here next week. I sure wish u lived down herre so I could just have you all come out. (there are no spa service businesses in the area as the place I bought it from years ago went out of business)

    1. Hi Michael. You’ll find a sensor loom connection down below the Sentry Control box. Likely just undearneath it. This is where the smaller remote panel connects to the bigger panel. The smaller remote ribbon cable is fed through a small white flex pipe conduit from the other side of the spa. Simply disconnect it where it connects to the larger panel cable beneath the Control box and see if the main panel buttons work after that. The remote panel can be replaced by feeding a new one through the old conduit. You simply peel up the panel where it is situated to expose the conduit hole. You can purchase the new remote panel from us if you choose. Let me know if you would like to order one and I could send you a purchase link.

  5. I disconnected the secondary topside remote panel as suggested. Maim panel still would not work as far as the jets. The air button, light button, etc still work on the main panel. I then repluged the secondary panel back up and it is as before. The 2 speed pump works from the secondary panel and the single speed pump still gives me nothing. The main panel still is the same…nothing on either jet but everything else works.
This is making what little hair I have left turn grayer by the day! haha

    1. Hi Michael. It sounds like you could have a bad main topside panel and or a bad circuit board. If you send me your spa serial number I could id your spa and send you a purchase link for both parts.

  6. Where would I find the serial number? I have no doubt it could be any of the things you say but I dont understand how if it was the circuit board, it would work the secondary panel but not the primary panel. They both use the same circuit board input.

I dont know if I have the ability to replace the circuitboard anyway. I am getting the pumps today. If I can install them at least I can see if they will run with the secondary panel. If both run with the secondary panel and not the primary well yea it would seem the primary panel has bitten the dust. Is it common for if the primary panel goes out that the other buttons would still work correctly? (the air, lights, select, etc?

    1. The serial number will be near the grey Sentry Control box. Either on top of the box there will be an id label or under the box directly or to the left or right. I have seen panels where some buttons work and some are taken out for whatever reason.

    Background:
About 2 weeks ago used spa for complete 20-minute cycle. All pumps, air and filter/circ pump operational. Temp set at 103deg and heater working.
Immediately after use, checked water for chemical/pH/etc balance. Went to add shock treatment and activated controls to turn on all pumps to circulate water and blow air. Only pump number two activated. All other pumps did not turn on. Waterfall not working nor air blower or heater.

    Indications:
    FLO Indicator displayed on screen
Air blower does not operate (can hear relay activate when turn on air)
    Filter/Circulation pump does not operate.
    Heater does not operate
Pump 1 does not operate (can hear relay activate when turn on pump 1)
    Pump 2 does operate.
Pump 3 does not operate (can hear relay activate when turn on pump 3)

    Troubleshooting/maintenance to date:
Disconnected power to spa for 1 hr.
Inserted hose into filter inlet to displace any air in lines.
Reconnected power and reattempted operation. No luck.
    Drained spa of all water.
    Replaced flow sensor switch.
Replaced Ozone generator (was bad as tubing connectors were broke at fittings)
    Changed out filter.
Inserted hose into filter inlet to fill spa.
Refilled spa and left filter off.
Opened Massage controller to let air escape (air did leak out)
Reconnected power to spa to activate pumps, heater, circuit, etc..
    Same indications as above.

    1. Hi Dan. After you replaced your flow switch are you still getting the FLO message error code?
And if you are is the FLO message flashing between FLO and the spa temperature or is it a solid FLO message?

    Greetings Nigel,
The FLO Message came on when power was reapplied to the spa following replacement of the flow switch and Ozone generator. The message appears to be as you described. However, the message readout pad had a sequence of messages as follows: FLO, 64 deg, FLO, 64 deg, COOL, FLO, 64 deg, FLO, 64 deg, COOL in that order repeating. Temp is in Degree Fahrenheit. Next step I plan is to verify electrical connection at the J6 connector.

    1. Hi Dan. If your circulation pump is not running, panel heat indicator not lit and panel is flashing FLO first check for 240VAC across the circulation test points with your multimeter. If you don’t have 240VAC check your 30amp fuse. If the fuse is bad replace it. If the fuse is good and the circulation pump is not running you could have a bad circulation pump. If the circulation pump is running look at the flow switch paddle and check if the spa has good flow. If it doesn’t have good flow turn power off, remove the filter, turn power back on and see if the heat icon comes on. If it doesn’t come on check for obstructions or kinks in the circulation line. Check your connections at the Flow switch again if this all checks out and if it does all check out and it’s not the fuse or circulation pump you could have a bad circuit board.
