Hi John. When it blows the fuse does the Topside control panel go blank?

No it still shows FLO, and I’ve checked everything I could for continuity, by the way where is the airisnater ( the thing that makes little bubbles) located?

Hi John. Typically the 30amp fuse is your main fuse inside the control box on most control boxes out there in the industry. No doubt if it is not your main fuse in the control box it will be there to protect one of the main components of the spa ie the Circuit board. Try to disconnect all your appliances ie all the pumps, ozone if you have one, heater, air blower etc. Change the 30 amp fuse again and apply power to the spa. See if the 30 amp fuse holds. If it does start plugging in your appliances one by one til the fuse blows. The air blower is typically located off to the left or rights side. It varies from model to model. It is usually mounted in a vertical position on a pvc pipe with a check valve. Usually protected by an 8 amp fuse. Easy to differentiate between the pumps as they are typically mounted horizontally.

Okay, I unhooked all the appliances and put a new $9 fuse in and turned it on, came on and nothing blew, as soon as I plugged in the pump and turned on again the fuse blew, pump motor turns as well as the pump, nothing seems to be hindering it’s movement, check continuity on both relay and starter modules and they are ok, so what’s next? Thanks

Hi John. If that is the circulation pump you would want to make sure the heater is also disconnected. As soon as the pump comes on your board and panel could be set for a heat call and if you have a bad heater it could blow the fuse. If the heater and everything else is already disconnected and the fuse blows when that pump is plugged in you may have a bad pump or bad connections at the pump.

Yes I did unhook the heater also, I had did a little research before hand so I knew not to have it connected, I’ve taken the pump out and read on the info , spec label that it was a replacement pump and was labeled indoor use only, so I’m now thinking it’s inner issues with wiring on the pump, what’s your thoughts??

Hi John. Yes something likely has gone wrong inside the motor.
If you want to send a picture of the motor label (this will have voltage, frame size and amperage rating) and also a picture of the wet end side of the pump I could locate a replacement for you. Send the pictures to partsdept@aqua-tech.ca
