That is an excellent question! Some liquid solar covers are denatured in a salt chlorinator. Smart Shield and Cover Free are safe and effective in salt water pools

How often do you have to replace or fill the liquid in the pool. How long does it last and what is the ongoing cost. Any maintenance required? what happens to the pool cover with backwash?

Filling the pool depends on many factors (pool temperature, air temperature, usage, etc.) but most folks need to add a few inches per week. The costs will vary depending on the area that you live in and the municipal water costs, but most folks should budget a few hundred dollars per year for pool water. The key is to keep your water 3/4 up the skimmer opening to allow the pool to circulate properly.
When backwashing, the liquid pool cover is diluted but this is accounted for in the initial dose as well as the weekly/monthly top up doses.
      Happy Swimming!!
